The Galaxy S8 has a brother! | UMiDIGI S2 pro

Nope, not an S8!

UMiDIGI is admittedly a lesser known name in the vast realm of smartphone devices. But their upcoming smartphone is going to change all that.

The UMiDIGI S2 pro is its name. If you haven't noticed yet, it looks gorgeously similar to the galaxy S8. And that's not a bad thing at all!

The phone sports a 5.9 inch display, but sadly, it's isn't the cinematic 18:9 display. It's a regular 1920x1080 IPS LCD panel.

But you can't deny the looks though.

UMiDIGI says that this is the world's first phone that lasts 2 days with a full display on the front. It seemingly will be true, given its huge 5100 mAh battery.

Other specs include a 2.6 GHz Mediatek Helio P25 octacore CPU, coupled with 6 gigs of RAM and 64 GB onboard storage.

It also houses a 900 MHz Mali T880-MP2 for graphics.

Other notable feature of the S2 pro is the dual camera setup on the rear. One is a 13 mp sensor and the other one is a 5 mp one, for added depth information.

It also houses a super bright quad LED flash. The front camera is a 5 mp wide angle snapper.

The only major disappointment I faced was that, for some reason, video from the front camera tops off at just 480p! And I thought 720p on the iPhones was outdated!

Not sure why that is though. We'll have to wait until the phone launches, to get a better idea of those optics.

The build quality seems to be top notch, though the final dimensions aren't confirmed yet. I'll update this post if I get some more info.

Just another S8 wannabe? Or is there more?

So there you have it, a galaxy S8 clone, so to speak. But it does have a much bigger battery than the S8, and dual cameras.

It'll be interesting to compare the two when the UMiDIGI S2 pro launched in October, later this year.
