New budget King?

Have you ever heard of a company called Ulefone? If you were alive back in January of last year, you would know about the Ulefone armor 2, a super rugged and badass looking smartphone from CES. The company has been under the geek radar (at least to my eyes) for a while now, and looks like they ha very good reason for it. They've come up with a phone in the mid-tier segment with specs that made my jaw drop.

Massive battery!

It was my dad who showed me this phone. I don't know how I did not notice this one myself. Maybe I am just getting lazy since I'm not getting very good income for my efforts lately, but that's beside the point. The phone I am talking about is the new Ulefone Power 3.

The new phone has seemingly excessive hardware on paper. I never thought I would say that hardware is ever too much. But check out the specs on this thing:

  • A 6080 mAH battery
  • 4 camerason the front and rear (combined)
  • 6 gigs of RAM
  • The (world's first, according to them) Mediatek Helio P23 processor
  • A 2160 X 1080 6-inch display (with Gorilla Glass 4)
  • FACE ID!
All this, for the price of under 230 USD or 14,000 INR. Now do you see why my jaw dropped?

High end audio is to be expected here.

They also claim other things, such as the inclusion of a high-end Audio chipset, particularly, the AW8736 audio amplifier. I am also happy to see the inclusion of a USB type-C port on here, rather than the micro_USB ports commonly seen even on modern budget devices.

But unlike most other mid-rangers, the headphone jack is nowhere to be seen here. Looks like these guys have joined the pointless bandwagon of killing good ol' jack as well. Let's see how well a dingle executes their high-end audio solution.

Total of 4 cameras. Competitor to the Honor 9i?

The included dual camera system is supposedly 21 mp + 5 mp Samsung sensors on the back. Now, I wouldn't get my hopes up too much with the cameras, because the dual cameras at this budget are entirely gimmicks and don't work very well. I mean, look at the Honor 7X. It's a fantastic hone for the price, but the secondary dual camera sensor is practically crap. That 2 mp sensor makes no significant contribution at all. It is just a waste of space if you ask me. I haven't seen these cameras yet, so I will reserve my final judgement. But I have a hunch that they will strictly be average at best, but we'll see.

The front cameras also have that Oppo F3s plus theme going on, with the standard 13 mp and another 5 mp for bokeh effect, couple with a flash. If you have nothing better to do other than take selfies in pitch black, this phone will definitely make you very happy.
Why does everyone plays asphalt 8 on these phones?

I do not have any concerns about the performance, as the P23 being a 16 nm chipset, will presumably provide very good horsepower. I mean, the Snapdragon 653 was a 28 nm processor, and it produced great results in many phones. So, I think the Ulefone Power 3 will be capable to handle everything that a 2018 smartphone should be able to handle.

All images have been taken from Ulefone's website. So if you want to learn more about this device, be sure to pay them a visit. If you like what you see, then you can pay them some money for the device, though I would suggest you wait for a while so I can take a closer look at it and tell you more about its value for money (even though it's pretty frigging cool already).
