[Smartphones] | Xiaomi Black Shark Helo : The Successor with RGB Lights!

Xioami Black Shark Helo

As techtober rolls on, we get to see more and more incredible smartphones released on a daily basis! The rate at which these phones are getting launched is absolutely too fast for a single person who manages a small tech blog like me. But that doesn't mean that I am not willing to lose my sleep over it! Better late than never, right?

Here's everything you need to know about the brand new Xiaomi Black Shark Helo, the successor to the original Black Shark gaming phone.

Apparently 6 and 8GB of RAM is not enough for the tech junkies of the 2018. So, this is the only other phone in the market as of now which has a whopping 10 GB RAM variant, other than the Mi Mix 3. It's amazing how a manufacturer well known for making mid range phones can bring two smartphones with insane spec sheets in the same year, isn't it? That's Xiaomi for you, I suppose!

Anyway, the Black Shark Helo has quite similar design aesthetics as that of the original Black Shark smartphone.

These are there general specs:

  • A 2.8 GHz Snapdragon 845 Processor,
  • 6/8 GB RAM with 128 GB storage or 10 GB RAM with the 256 GB Storage variant,
  • Adreno 630 for graphics,
  • A massive 4000 mAh battery,
  • NO headphone jack,
  • A gorgeous 6 inch 1080p Amoled display,
  • Android 8.0 with MIUI on top,
  • There's still that dedicated button to launch the "Shark Space" mode,
  • 12 mp standard + 20 mp telephoto rear cameras,
  • 20 mp wide angle selfie camera,
  • A standard capacitive fingerprint sensor on the rear.

The accessory game is very much the same where you can attach a joystick controller to the phone with the help of the included case. Note that this controller is not powered by the phone, and has its own battery. It connects over Bluetooth and you have to charge it separately with the USB type C cable that you get in the box.

That's a bit dumb in my opinion. It will be in close proximity to the phone anyway (most of the time while you are using it), so why not make it somehow wirelessly charge with the help of the phone's massive battery unit like the S pen on the Samsung Galaxy Note devices?

I mean, I am sure that there is a pretty good engineering reason why it has not been implemented yet. But it doesn't hurt to imagine what it would be like if the accessory would automatically draw power when it is connected to the phone without ever having to be charged first. That would be dope, wouldn't it?

Anyway, the fact that it works as well as it does is good enough for the gaming fans for now, I suppose.

Another dope new addition to this year's Black Shark phone is the inclusion of RGB lights behind the logo on the back as well as on the side strips.

It looks really cool and just like the Razer Phone 2, it can be programmed to show a specific color for a specific notification.

Well, that's pretty much all I can think of when it comes to what's new with the Black Shark Helo. Let me know if I missed something prominent about this phone that you happen to notice in the comments down below.
