Gionee M2017

Luxurious!
As 2017 begins, we already have an awesome, dazzling entry to the list of premium smartphones. It's manufactured by Gionee, a company not known for such premium offerings. It's often re-branded as BLU, in some markets like the US. Anyway, let's take a look at the super expensive and classy Gionee M2017.

Two variants
The phone is all about the design! I do they need to say much about how flashy this phone is. The solid gold plated metal frame, a frilled top and bottom sections, give this phone a unique touch of luxury. The phone is a bit on the thicker side though, coming at 10 mm. The back has those dual cameras, clamped around by a neat gold plate. There is a clear cut fingerprint sensor on the front, which screams 'symmetry'. The whole phone is amazingly made, like it should be. It is, after all, a glamorous show-piece of luxury.

My preferred look (can't afford though)

The display is also a super crisp 5.7 inch QHD AMOLED panel at 515 ppi. It's super bright and vibrant, one of the better ones out there. The curvature of this display glass reminds me a lot of the galaxy note 7.( Everything reminds me of the note!)

Under the hood, this phone quite a unique beast.
  • It's powered by a 1.9 GHz Snapdragon 653 pro octacore CPU
  • 6 GB of DDR4 RAM
  • 128 GB of base model storage, non expandable.
  • Adreno 510 GPU
  • A ludicrous 7000 mAh battery!

It has 2 nano SIM slots and supports global LTE. There's also a 256 GB variant, if you have some extra cash to burn. Speaking of cash, the M2017 costs about $1050 for base 128 GB model. Higher one costs about $1200.

Dat battery tho!

It's ridiculous to realize that even the super expensive Huawei Mate 9 prosche design has a competitor! If you missed that one, check it out here.

Anyway, we all know who this phone is made for. Only the very richest can afford such an unnecessary luxury. But it's nice to see a company such as Gionee take a swing at the ultra premium and limited edition smartphones' market. Let's see what else awaits is along 2017邏. Stick around 'dope tech fever' and thanks again for reading.
